ondrej brody, student posledneho rocnika avu v atelieri novych medii je vychadzajuca hviezda na ceskej umeleckej scene. je znamy svojimi kontroverznymi pracami (napr. docummentary clip, ber si to osobne, ...) a akciami (art forum berlin, veletrzni palac, ... )
v galerii HIT predstavi okrem ineho videa - zaznamy zo svojich akcii v relacii o umeni artoza, kde aspiroval na titul artstar a dokazal, ze vie v pripade potreby urobit malu potrebu aj v televiznom studiu a z akcie vo veletrznom palaci, kde demonstroval svoju potrebu vyjadrit sa k situacii v ceskom umeni vykonanim velkej potreby priamo v narodnej galerii.


kedysi bol styl dostatocnou kategoriou na urcenie identity umelca. v sucasnom svete vsak identita nie je viac ako vstupny kod, logo (prinajlepsom). uz nejde o skumanie formalneho teritoria, ktore byvalo oznacovane za sukromne vlastnictvo. dielo mnohych dnesnych autorov sa javi skor ako za sebou nasledujuce, zjavne izolovane, esteticke kroky. tito tvorcovia robia vystavy od seba casto fromalne velmi vzdialene, povazuju formu za nastroj, nie za vysledok svojej prace. spomedzi nich sa da spomenut maurizio cattelan alebo sinanni motti, henrik plenge jakobsen, kendell geers, matthieu laurette, christian jankowski, wim delvoye a nakoniec, ondrej brody. ich praktiky nemozu byt oznacene ako experimentalne, (to ich nerobi osobitymi) kedze tento pojem vychadza z obrazu atelieru, ktory sa stal laboratoriom. skor ako skumanie daneho problemu vertikalnym, hlbkovym procesom, sa tento typ tvorby rozvija po horizontalnej linii, kde rozne prvky spoludefinuju osobne univerzum.

 
ondrej brody, student of the new media department at avu in prague is a rising star on the czech art scene. he is known by his controversial works ( docummentary clip, take it personally, ...) and actions (at art forum berlin, veletrzni palac, ... )
gallery HIT will show video recordings of his action in the tv show artoza (runs on czech television), in which he aspired for the title artstar by proving he is able to take a piss in front of the cameras and from an action in the czech national gallery (veletrzni palac ) in which he demonstrated his urge to comment on the situation of czech art by taking a shit directly in the exhibition space of the national gallery.


style once used to be enough to define the identity of an artist. but in the contemporary world, identity is never much more than an access code, a logo (at best) or a sales pitch (at worst). surveying a formal territory understood as a private property thus isn't the issue anymore. the work of many artists today is carried out in a succession of aesthetic "moves" apparently isolated from one another. these operators produce exhibitions which are often very disparate formally, since they only consider forms as a tool, rather than an end for their work. among them, one could name maurizio cattelan or sinanni motti, henrik plenge jakobsen, kendell geers, matthieu laurette, christian jankowski, wim delvoye and finally, ondrej brody. neither can their practice be described as "experimental" (i.e. this is not what makes it particular) since it is rooted in the image of a studio-cum-laboratory. rather than investigating a given issue (through a vertical, drilling process), this type of practice unfolds on a horizontal line where recurring element end up defining a personal universe, in other words a specific toolbox designed to process a similarly specific mass of information.
